What is the weapon and how does it work?
A grenade is a small bomb thrown by hand or launched mechanically. They can be detonated two different ways, on impact or by time fuse. To make it work, you withdraw the safety pin, so the safety lever is free from the grenade body. Once the safety lever is released, its ready to strike.

The grenade was invited to bomb parties of the enemy. Sir Williams Mills invented the hand grenade in 1915.

The grenade change the war because you could kill multiple enemies at once by throwing a portable hand bomb. Overall the grenade did not influence the war as much as other weapons invented in that time did.

The leaders of the warring nations and the decisions they made. The leaders made sure they had a good supply of grenades at all times. |
